Scottish power screwed my credit rating

Found a note on my credit file for £128 linked to scottish power. It also stated 6x payments had been missed.

I called them and it turns out it was linked to an old address i lived at till december 2022.

I received a final bill and paid it on 23rd dec 2022. I had moved out on 30th nov and had given meter readings. Got an email back confirming they had received the payment.

So basically after speaking to them yesterday, they claim that my email address dissapeared from my account so they couldnt inform me of the debt. (All communication had been previously done via email, including bills and receipts so no idea when my email address supposedly dissapeared).

They then sent a bill to the address i was no longer living at. And another letter was sent in august 2023.

I am very angry about this and have told them to wave this given the fact that i had no communication from them. I also asked for an email summarising whats been discussed.

Was told they cant send me an email summarising the situation and that i should email their customer service team who will (and i quote) "hopefully be able to help".

Sent an email and got a reply stating the debt is actually for a bill dated after i moved out. 3rd till 9th december???Asked me for my lease and detail of next supplier.
Told them nope. Sent a copy of my lease but i blacked out the first line of address. I was living with a friend who handled all the bills so figured no way am i giving them my new details especially when ive been spun several stories from them.

Im going to be demanding that they sort this out, get my credit file fixed and give me compensation given that my credit file has been tainted for almost 2 years.

Anyone had anything similar happen before?
