Qatar Airways - Refund

Options
I'm at a total loss with this now and I'm really hoping someone can help me.
I was living and working in Qatar up until February this year. Circumstances meant that I had to move back to the UK and close down all of my Qatar accounts.

I had return flights to Germany booked for the Euros and notified them that I would be cancelling them but I would need the money refunded into a different account as my Qatari bank account was getting closed. They told me it wouldn't be an issue and that I would just have to give them proof of address and ID when giving them new bank details. I went ahead and cancelled them.

Fast forward 7 months!!!
I've spent hours upon hours on live chat and on the phone and still haven't received my refund. Furthermore, I've never even received any of the promised communication from them. They always say somemone will contact you in 7 days or that the refund team are handling this urgently but I've never received a single phone call.

I just find this utterly outrageous! They're quick to take the money but can't give it back ( minus an admin fee) when you need it!

I've also sent numerous complaints and had no response either.

Anyone know my next steps?
Tia

If you contracted with Qatar Airways while living in Qatar, then surely any consumer rights are going to be Qatari? We only really know about UK law here.

    How did you pay?

Next steps are going to depend upon what your Qatari bank account had in terms of an equivalent to the chargeback process we have in the UK.  If that's no help, you'll need to read up on Qatari consumer laws to see what other routes are available to you.

Yup - a contract entered into with a Qatari company, paying from a Qatari bank whilst living in Qatar.  None of that will be subject to UK consumer laws.

If I were you I'd be posting on one of the travel boards - Overseas holidays & travel planning — MoneySavingExpert Forum

Your problem isn't one that UK consumer rights provides an answer to.
