Childs bus fare was 10p.  Such a shock when it went up to 15p!

My first 4 gallon (22L) and 20 cigarettes cost me less than £1.00

My first detached 3 bed house I had built by a well known builder (now) cost £2,995.00
  • Bus fare for me was 2p in new decimal money when I was in primary school.  Once it got stolen from my desk and the prospect of having to walk home-uphill for about 3 miles brought me to tears.  My wonderful teacher found me sobbing and reached into his own pocket to replace it.

I remember 1/2 penny's and 1/2p sweets! Initially when we lost the 1/2 p coin we went to 2 for a penny but it wasn't long untill they went to 1p each.

Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • I'll be honest I can't remember the cost, but the petrol for my first car was the old 4* and the car had a manual choke.  Bus fare to school was 14p, we still had the 'ten pence mix' of penny sweets and you could post a letter without needing a second mortgage to buy a stamp!
