I just bought a Brother DCP-330C from the outlet on Ebay. Paid about £35, and it's indistinguishable from new. Canon also have an Ebay outlet, and the little Selphy photo printer I bought from them was equally as new. Might be worth a look.0

I prefer a laser for quality / everyday use / throw away printing N E V E RBU YaL E X M A R K high print per page costs 8p/sheet. Use it and give it away or crush it. Look for HP Canon Brother Epsom0

Brother All-in-Ones are the best option, cartridges available for a couple of quid each from Choice Stationery, I have tried all of the other makes, Canon, Lexmark, HP, Epson, none compare to the Brother.0

I bought a 4450 around 6 months ago (think the 8450 is the same engine with an LCD screen and card slots) - works well and a decent software package (also handles digital cameras).
does anyone know if the Epson DX8400 is any good?
