  • In the last 2 months, Agile Export has averaged 7.87p. Interesting graph above shows that for very brief periods, it peaks at around 16-17p with a maximum of 18.81p (for my region at least)
When I looked at this in June for the prior 2 months, the graph was more or less identical.  The Majority of the time, export will be <10p on Agile export.  That is why I chose the fixed 15p export.  Import is on average around 15.78p, yes it can be lower and during peak times, much higher BUT with a battery, you can work around the peak time (usually 4-7pm) and then fill-up the battery at usually 16p or much less (or even get paid) in the early hours of the morning.

I am now pondering what export tariff will be best - Agile or fixed are the only ones that are compatible with Agile import according to the table.
Are you eligible for the Intelligent Go or Go tariffs? If so, those work best for winter. If not, then Agile incoming and Outgoing Fixed is the next best option I believe.

    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

only if I lied and said I had an EV which I don't. So no I am not eligible. The graph above seems to be a pretty clear case for fixed export

I wfh and can be flexible on use of appliances in cheap slots so I think Agile will work for import. I am holding off making that switch till daughter goes back to uni!

I'm on my own and retired and just thought I'd highlight the flexibility one accordingly has which other households may not share!

I've an EV, no domestic battery, an immersion with diverter and am on FIT for my PV. Agile is working for me at the moment as my car range/travel commitments mean I can time my use of EV charging as well as all the heavy domestic use. I don't expect it to be a flat graph but last month was 8.9p average and last week 4.2p per unit.

I am working on the principle that we will have established a routine for effective use by the time she comes home for Christmas

I don't really understand how people without a battery (like Screwdriva) manage on Flux over Winter. Even now production is tailing off by the time you're into the peak time.
Not hard to explain. Our consumption is < 1600kWh per year.  Import during the peak 4-7pm Flux window is limited to small appliances.
Thank, that's a clear answer. For ourselves there's pretty much always some cooking over that time. I've not analysed it, but it looks like that must be a reasonable proportion of our daily use. Typical Sunday pre solar ..

Looks like Flux has just been substantially revised to become far less lucrative, with the day export rate falling below the 15p mark for the first time. Import prices have risen too! Looks like it'll have to be Agile incoming/ Outgoing 15p for me for the next 3-6 months.

  • We are  on E7 which works out well for us.

The Givenergy inverter needs those 6-7 hrs to charge the two batteries from flat.
Solar + Batteries run through Home Assistant,  Depending on predicted power generation - the batteries discharge to set level.
During colder months our AC kicks on for heating.
We are a high electric usage household - summer average is 15KWh/day and winter 25KWh

Looks like they are angling it more to push people to export more during peak times than randomly (solar positive days).
So a good advantage for battery systems, but a disadvantage to those without.

Makes me consider doing flux for the brightest 6 months as 27.7p/kwh is a great export rate.
As an electric only house with 2 EV's, flux is no good for the darker 6 months, importing at 15.4p instead of the current 7p.

Unless of course IOG is about to change also

I've left it on Flux through the winter. No regrets!
