New solar and battery install - best Octopus tariff

Just (last week) had a 7.8Kw system installed along with a 13Kw GivEnergy battery. We are quite low usage generally and after battery top up and house use we are probably currently sending 75-80% of our generation to the grid. Battery probably drops 25-30% overnight. With Octopus but not on export tariff yet but can't fit the life of me decide which one to go for and wondered if anyone had any advice, especially given the time of year.

For now, unless you've got an EV, probably not much point being on anything other than standard tariff?
No point charging the battery if it can fill from solar and still have some free to export!
Once you've got your export meter setup and paying you SEG payments, then maybe move to Octopus Intelligent Flux - given your high export from solar and their higher rates for export. Intelligent Flux will probably better than normal flux given your high export.
Tim and Kat's Green walk is a good YouTube channel to look at. Or Gary does Solar.
Generally if you're exporting more than your importing it will make you money.
If you can generate 1.4x what you consume, or more, IOF is probably the best.
Although for the winter there may be other tariffs to look at, but without an EV or heat pump a lot of the tariffs are unavailable. Leaving you with SVR, tracker or agile. Agile may be good if you can avoid importing 4-7pm and can shift your usage.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. As you've got a Givenergy battery you'll probably be best off on Intelligent Flux, if you haven't got an EV.
Have a look at the Tim & Kat's Green Walk channel on Youtube. There is a ready reckoner that you can feed you figures into, to see which Octopus tariff would suit you best.1 -
Thanks for the quick response. Probably should have added that there is no EV or heat pump involved.
Currently since the system was installed we are averaging 3.7 kWh house consumption per day, and generating on average around 37 kWh
Grid to home has been just above 0 on one day, and grid to battery has averaged 0.1 kWh.
Have watched a few of the videos on both of those mentioned channels, but still getting my head around it. Think I need to re-watch
Don't really know what I am talking about with regards to this (which I think is clear) so just wondering what you mean when you say 'get your export meter setup'?
Thanks0 -
If you want to get paid to export electricity, you need an MPAN for export on your meter.
If you ask octopus to join SEG (smart export guarantee) they will contact the DNO (electric operator) to sort out the MPAN - might take 4 weeks, maybe 8, 12. Depends on the region.
You can't get paid for export until the MPAN is sorted.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)1 -

Without a shadow of doubt, you are ideally suited for the Intelligent Octopus Flux Tariff. Setup takes a couple weeks but you will earn more exporting via IOF than any other tariff.

Am I the only one wondering how you were sold a battery with daily import so low? Maybe the power cut protection was important?
