Anyone know any good insurers who will cover a trip of 44 days? Most only do 28 or 36 max.

You should look for "Long-stay travel insurance"

There are quite a few if you search for that term, but most do limit as you have found.
I found a lot using that search term.

No doubt you'll know this - but your house insurance also needs to be extended, separately from travel cover.

Are you wanting single trip or annual? Most will be fine on a long trip on single travel cover its annual where it can be more problematic.
