Bathroom renovation

Currently having the bathroom renovated. We went with some tradespeople we thought had shown the most innovation in doing the work. They proposed knocking some of the room about to get the most room for the shower and moving the toilet to allow for room for the bath. The quote included the key details like moving the toilet.
However now the work has begun they had realised they can't knock parts of the room about for the shower, so it's now a challenge trying to find one that will get the height required. And they've realised because the floor below is a porch, they can't access the waste pipe to move the toilet. Consequently the bath is now being squeezed next to the toilet, and there may not be the room to get the taps in the middle of the bath as illustrated.
While we've said we're happy to accomodate what needs to be done to make it work, seeing the furniture arrive, it is starting to look less like what we had discussed and been quoted for.
Where do I stand in trying to get the right bathroom for us?

Stop work immediately until you have a clear idea of what can be achieved as once fitted you have no chance.
It might be that you need to change your product range to better fit the space you have.
If you planned a free standing shower it might be better to have one over the bath. Baths come in different lengths and widths, the P and L shaped ones will date the space very quickly.
When showi ng you what you wanted to achieve they really should have checked for position of soil pipe and what wall construction was.0 -
Hello OP
As far as consumer rights go, anything the trader says or writes is part of the contract and where that isn't met you are entitled to a repeat performance, where that isn't possible you are entitled to a price reduction.
I assume "knock about" means knock out? and it's possible they couldn't have known the plans were unsuitable until beginning work but the issue with the waste pipe sounds, from what you've said, as if it could have been evident.
Pragmatically speaking, there is an issue of not creating animosity with tradespeople as things are more likely to go down hill, I would recommend popping a thread on the DIY board

with photos of what you have now, details/photos of the original plan to see if anyone has any thoughts, it would be worth tagging dozergirl as she is particularly knowledgably in this area.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
