Can anybody help me please? Over the last few days, several (established) websites have been coming up with the error message "403 Forbidden" when I've tried to visit them or clicked on links from emails, on both Google Chrome and Firefox. Is this because their safety certificates aren't up to date, or could it be because I've recently installed McAfee Total Protection? Either way, this censorship is irritating! Is there a way to stop this please? Any help greatly appreciated.

    McAfee Total Protection
    Will be the problem.

If running Windows 11 no need to pay for such programs Defender is more than good enough.

Thank you so much. I'm on Windows 10, and have used both Defender and McAfee before.

Sadly, my PC is un-upgradeable and the equivalently priced desktop PCs today are far lower spec than mine is (unless you want to pay squillions, which I don't)

Windows defender is fine for Windows 10 as well as 11, you don't need McAfee doing the same job in a worse and more intrusive way.

You can normally bypass the requirements that stop an upgrade to Win 11

Stay with 10 as long as you can. 11 is full of "issues" IME.

What issues are unique to Windows 11? The majority of it is Windows 10 with round edges.

Can't say I have any issues on 11 that don't exist on 10. Too much hearsay on Windows 11 that is mostly untrue.

Now MacOS is still a bit of a mess, but they make great hardware so you kind of live with it.

My Windows 11 frequently freezes for 20 to 30 seconds on the lock screen when waking it up. Only mouse movement is detected, no clicks or keyboard response.
Then there is the known problem of disappearing icons on the task bar. They are there, but invisible unless you manually stop and restart Windows Explorer. MS have known about it for about a year and no fix. It only occurs with dual monitor setups apparently,  so clearly not a priority.
Then there's the copy, cut and paste options when you right click on a file in File Explorer - they're buried under a second level menu. You can hack the registry to get the Windows 10 style dropdown menu back, or hold down shift when you right click to get it. WHY?

Hopefully Windows 12 will be better...
