I need to get a 2FA browser extension on my laptop, in order to receive the 2FA codesWhat would you suggest is best one/ easiest to set up?

You don't need any app to be triggered for TOTP. Once the service you are using it for has been registered (public / private key exchange) then you just pen the TOTP 2FA app on any device, read the code and type it into the service site / app to be authenticated.

Triggering the app is where push approval is the option rather than TOTP.
