both insurers ahve told me yes need to be the registerd keeper.0

thats strange as i have been insured by churchill. tesco and prudential, which like direct line and virgin are owned by rbs insurance group, and they allowed me to not be the registered keeper but still be the policy holder (though different insurance brands do have differing policies, also as i work for the group, that may also be why)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0

Some insurers require the car to be insured by the owner. Others do not. Some default to assume it is unless told otherwise.
Some insurance companies ask questions via one distribution channel which are not asked on another. i.e. the questions on the telephone may be different to those on the internet and those coming from traditional brokers.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
