Santander edge credit card monthly period

Does the month begin when you activate the card and stay like that forever as opposed to most cards that use calendar months?

This question was asked recently - but specifics of the answer escape me unfortunately.
My monthly fee was applied immediately after the card was activated - and the date of my first monthly statement of balance appeared 15 days later, 28th May - and that cycle remains constant thereafter.
    Suits me fine.
Give Santander a call, or visit a branch if convenient - I think you may be able to tweak the date of the monthly statement - but linkage with the date of card activation needs clarification.

OK, so there's not much point me waiting till the beginning of next month to activate it in hope it would run per calendar month as its likely to start 15 days later anyway?

Do you know if the 2% cashback year starts as soon as you activate it or has it already started shortly after I applied?

    Only when activated AFAIK.
You'd be best to contact Santander credit card department to get a precise cyclical best case scenario for you.
Remember the 3 day before use condition - if that is still applicable.

I would contact them if I thought I was certain to get the facts, but I'm old enough and wise enough to know it's likely that I won't.

Anytime I've had to contact Santander I've been advised correctly.

I've always spoken with an English speaking customer service assistant with no language issues whatsever.
Nearly always a Brit I'm thinking.
Did you get through to the credit card people ?

I asked to when prompted by the automated system, but no idea if I actually did, because the conversation was very brief, as soon as I realised there was no understanding I said thanks I'll have to leave it, goodbye. I'll see how I get on with a strange billing date, and if I hate it I will try ringing again.
  • My account was opened on the 3rd of the month, card activated 8th of the month, statements produced between 24th and 26th of the month, if that helps.
