Does this sound like mis-selling a car?

They would (should) have done the due dilligence when buying it and it shouldn't have become approved/assured if the warranty was voided due to servicing. Your paperwork somewhere should hopefully mention the warranty/status.
Did they give you a print out of the service history?

Mention of warranty was over the phone in discussion with salesman, my reason for buying a KIA. Discussion was re: balance of warranty and how to keep warranty intact i.e. warranty would be in place until Nov 2025 if I followed the service plan.No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere0 -

Sales people never look at servicing books to check details like this.
How old & what miles did the car have?
As Kia dealers run to types of 2nd hand sales.
Assured which just gives you the balance of the warranty subject to servicing being within Kia schedules
Approved Kia Approved Used cars are less than 20 months old, have covered less than 20,000 miles – and still in prime condition.
Approved come with a FULL NEW 7 year Warranty from the date of your purchase. So previous servicing history makes no difference.

So dig out the paperwork & check.👍
Sadly you should have checked pre purchase, especially if sales person said " balance of 7 year warranty providing servicing was carried out as per KIA t&cs"
To me that inplies they knew about the missed service. Or they would have simply said. It has the balance of the 7 year warranty.
What has it been declined on?Life in the slow lane1 -

What has it been declined on?Declined on failed turbo.Salesman said car had balance of 7 year warranty and if I kept to the servicing schedule I was covered under the warranty…had I been told car did not have any warranty, I wouldn’t have purchased it.

Would a failed turbo be covered under the 7-year warranty if it were not for the missed service?0

Grumpy_chap said:Would a failed turbo be covered under the 7-year warranty if it were not for the missed service? It should be. There are the usual get-outs for expected wear in proportion to mileage covered, but a turbo ought to last the 100,000 miles of the warranty.Likely they are saying that it was caused by an initial lack of lubrication due to massively exceeding the first service interval- you can't prove that it wasn't. (Some diesels are 12500 mile services, so an extra 4000 is more than 30% over, if it is 20,000 mile services it is 20% over).I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I'm guessing this is a gen 4 Sportage.
So is petrol engine & has a 10K or 12 months service schedule.

TBH, unless Op has a recording of the salesperson saying it has a warranty, or a written statement by dealer on warranty, then it is word against word.Life in the slow lane1 -
