Car hire in US and Canada - whole of car value insurance

Hi
I have reserved two cars to hire - in Canada and the US - with Budget car hire. I have a corporate code and so the rental cost is low but there is no insurance included. I called Budget car hire here in the UK and have been told that it would cost $34 per day to add insurance for the US car and $30 per day for the Canada car hire - I will be hiring the cars for a total of 17 days.
Does anyone know of a company that can provide insurance cover for the whole car. I was told that it should cover at least $30k. I came across Reducemyexcess - on the website it says they cover upto $50k EXCESS but I communicated with them through chat and was told that the $50k is not just for the excess but for the total damage following an incident.
Please help - I'm very confused.

Given we are talking about the US... why are you so worried about insuring the car? The largest car insurance claim I ever had awareness of was estimated to be $60m after our insured ran over and killed a kid in front of their whole family. We'd already agreed the $5m each for the 4 grandparents that witnessed it but still negotiating with the parents and adult siblings.
Technically it was something like $60,004,000 because the car had sustained modest damage
ReduceMyExcess do not offer third party liability cover so won't fix it for you and in most states you can get away with a crazy low amount of insurance but not none.0 -
Thanks for the response. Are there any companies that you would recommend?0

Some strange advice given on this thread
You need a policy that includes CDW and SLI. BUT there needs to be primary liability cover on the car in the first instance. SLI stands for Supplementary Liability Insurance, taking the cover up to US$1,000,000 from whatever basic cover is already applied. So you need to ask Budget if there is any Third Party cover at all. If so, then all you need is the aforementioned.
Example: https://www.bettersafe.com/car-hire-excess-insurance WorldwideIncl CDW & SLI Up to US$100,000 for damage to the car and US$1,000,000 for supplementary third party cover. Price up an annual policy too, as it can be better value than daily.

Budget have said that there is no insurance at all - the corporate rate is meant for US consumers and that their personal car insurance is considered and that they would also have credit card insurance that would provide coverage.0
