How do I book the right train tickets for the National Rail 2for1 London Zoo?

My wife and baby want to head out to London Zoo, using the 2for1 National Rail Days Out offer. I understand I need a valid National Rail ticket.
I live in East London with Manor Park being the closest station. Usually I'd use oyster card to travel, but trying to figure out the cheapest National Rail ticket so my Zoo tickets are valid is funnily enough proving to be quite difficult!
