Saga Cancelled our travel insurance

I’m 64. I advised Saga that I’d recently undergone treatment for an Ocular Melanoma (90-95% success rate), but instead of possibly increasing the cost of our (my wife and I) yearly cover, they s completely cancelled it leaving us without cover and with holidays coming up. Worse than that as the cover is only 2 months old, they’ll only offer us half of the cost back! Is this legal or acceptable?

Unfortunately yes. An insurer is within their rights to decline to underwrite due to a change in circumstances. The premium paid includes all the initial administrative costs of setting the policy up. This will be deductible irrespective of how long the plicy has actually for.

As above, they can cancel it if circumstances change.
The reason is that it could cost a lot if you had a medical emergency related to the health issue.
Sorry to hear it happened, but they are in their rights to do so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

2 months for diagnosis and treatment feels very quick (although not unheard of)
that may be the reason behind the cancellation if they feel you havent been providing them with accurate health information0 -
2 months to diagnose a cancer and treat it isn't particularly quick. The original problem may have been identified during a routine eye test then referred for investigation.
