Identity documents to open a bank account

I have an appointment in branch to open a Barclays Bank Account. Since I don’t have a passport or drivers license, they can accept a HMRC letter from the last 12 months, but I have only got a national insurance letter - on it, it says not to be used to prove your identity.
Should this be fine to bring along regardless.

Do you have a tax coding letter, anything from HMRC themselves?ARN92_ said:I have an appointment in branch to open a Barclays Bank Account. Personally, I'd ask Barclays themselves, rather than a bunch of strangers on The Internet.3

Bus pass? Letter from an employer backed up with payslip? Utility bills, council tax letter, tenancy agreement? Bank statements from where you bank already?
Agree that asking Barclays would be the sensible thing but if you are going into branch you might actually find a sensible human who can look at a range of paperwork and make an adult decision.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Sometimes a bunch of strangers on the Internet are better informed than call centre staff.Barkin said:Personally, I'd ask Barclays themselves, rather than a bunch of strangers on The Internet.

If you can’t provide these documents, please call us on 0345 7345 345 to discuss other options. We’re here Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, and Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
Failing that ring their account opening team & ask what they would accept from what you have.Life in the slow lane1 -
So, is the OP's document acceptable or not?HillStreetBlues said:

Not sure why HMRC class it as a non-identity document since it has been issued by the government.0

Did you have a polling card from the last election?ARN92_ said:I have an appointment in branch to open a Barclays Bank Account. I used a driving licence, but another random stranger might have tried opening one with a national insurance letterBarkin said:
