Primark refuse refund

Purchased a jumper for my Dad, even though the label said L, my Dad, who isn't particularly big, could hardly get it over his head-took jumper & receipt back today, asst, refused refund as she said that the receipt didn't match the item?
It is total CXXX.
The item was only £8 !!!!!!. The asst then called the 'manager' over who was totally unhelpful, only spouting off policy, policy etc.
If they had a larger size, they would allow me to exchange item, but they didn't have any in stock, they wouldn't even give me a credit note.
I said to the manager, 'so theres nothing you can do to help?' she simply said 'no!' and walked off.
I am disgusted over their attitude. Their management staff also need a kick up the backside too.
I now have a man's jumper which is totally useless to me. I will never, never, shop there again and will tell everyone else I know too.

not much you can do, as long as the goods are in decent nick and fit for purpose (even if they don't 'fit') then they have no obligation to refund.0

I understand that, however, in order to keep their customers happy, and avoid losing them, surely a bit of common sense would prevail? Look at the alternatives, Next, M&S, New Look, all of whom are happy to exchange or refund, or at least give credit notes if receipt lost."Hope for the Best

I am sure I read whilst queing forever in our local one that you dont need the receipt to take goods back until something like the 5th feb (but you would only get current selling price), just take it back without the receipt and get something else maybe?0

Unfortunately when it comes to refunds where there is no fault with the item, the customer is not always right, in fact they have no rights. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Primark stuff is cheap and cheerful-before buying it you should have checked their policy for returns .0

Primark have always done me exchanges in the past. I know they're a pain in the bottom regarding refunds and won't do them. I find raising my voice loudly (without shouting), smiling but being firm and finally resorting to..the comment ''is the money going to come out of your pocket?" normally does the trick.
Can't stand jobsworths in retail. It's so irritating having to battle with an 18 year old 'supervisor' to get what you're entitled to!!! (apologies to any 18 year olds in retail out there...lol!!!!)
Go to another store and see what happens there - it's amazing what different sales people say.0 -

Yeah, and look how much they charge for clothes compared with Primark.0 -
I love Primark. However I don't like the no-receipt no-exchange policy. If the tagging is still on the item I believe they should allow exchanges at the least.
Anyway, a thread I'd made earlier about them allowing exchanges for items after Christmas with the reason of 'unwanted Christmas gift' should come in handy?
To be honest, I'd just go in again when they have the size or a different item you're looking for and try again if possible with a different salesperson.
Their policy is no returns without receipt, I've worked there and if you think their service is crap, working there is crapper, hence the disgusting service they provide. However, the Meadowhall, Sheffield store (for example) offer exchange of goods without reciept and the Sheffield town one doesn't. The supervisor told us that although it's not policy, they offer exchanges/refunds as a gesture of goodwill, and because the store was new and they wanted to start off on a good reputation. So try a store either newly open or one with a set of polite people there? (Good luck finding it lol..)0 -

It can be irritating when you are entitled to something, but in this case, however annoying it is, the OP is not actually entitled to anything...they may well have more luck at another store, but that is entirely at the store's discretion.0 -
Did I read it correctly, you didn't have the right receipt? then I would assume that would be the problem, shops don't usually give refunds without them, however M&S give vouchers without a receipt. I would just try again.0
