Hi all. I am beginning to reign in the money after a bad start to the year. So many unexpected situations have resulted in us spending more than usual bit I am still optimistic about sticking to my yearly budget. Prices are still rising ( a economy pk of carrots was 20p more today than a couple of months ago) so well done to all those staying anywhere near their budgets. As, the gc will be with us a lot this month I have raised my budget.

Hi @elsiepac thank you so much for the thread
Struggled to decide on an August budget, were away some of the month, so will save on food and petrol. But we have days out and entertaining planned plus a quite a few store cupboard items, olive oil, dishwasher tablets, washing power etc to buy. In the end decided to stick with our "allocated budget" but try to make some savings We did well in July because we had a lot of meat in the freezer that we've used.
August Target £650
Petrol £180
Food/Cleaning £470
This is for 4 adults and 2 hungry children

Do you mind if I join in for August?
The budget will cover all food expenses and cleaning supplies including bedding for our bunny. Going to include anything eating out wise/takeout as I am quite bad with it and need a incentive to stop myself!
Just me and my DMum but she has specific tastes. However since she has to have certain OTC medications for health reasons I wont be including that in the budget.
I think we can probably do a nice round £400 for the whole month (1 - 31 August).4 -

Thank you, @elsiepac, can I aim for
£500
this month, please? This is just for 3 adults FT plus 2 others for 1 or 2 nights per week, plus weekend family & friend guests, a pretty constant feature as we're close to coast & countryside. There may only be 3 of us but that's 3 different sets of dietary needs to cater for, plus more when DD1 (no red meat) & her partner (genuinely lactose intolerant) are here! I came in well under budget last month but was away for a fair bit of it; not the case this August!

Tx @elsiepac as always.
Having blown my budget in July by over double (!) due to family and an abroad trip and me finding excuses to buy food... and an accidental H Fresh delivery (I have now cancelled it)£200 Grocery plus £30 bulk August goal
4.5 weeks in August
I do have a full freezer I will eat out of,.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I have a few things to report.
Y.S mushrooms 71 pence for a family pack.
Specials on my app of grapes, £1.58 and 3 Aubergines for £1.80.
I will be making Moussaka and Aubergine Parmigiana this coming week (with cheddar cheese)
Usual start of the month necessities fruit and veg, milk, frozen fruit, yoghurt, milk, honey and cereal making products.
This came to £31.66
Also eggs from the farm £6.50
I was naughty last week and spent £71.98 on wine.
We now have enough to last, in theory until November as we tend to only have wine with our Sunday lunch.
Total so far and it's only the 1st£110.14/£300

Hi, I'm back in for this month for a total of
£250.
I'm having a go at switching round my shopping style from doing 2-3 big deliveries a month to just buying the things I need as and when I need them. I've spent a round £21.00 so far on fruit, veg, hummus, herbs and kitchen roll.

Thank you Elsiepac for organising the thread for us again.
We are mostly based at home this month so will need to keep an eye on grocery spending and the impulse to eat out.
starting the month with plenty of fresh fruit and veggies in stock but not much meat or fish in the freezer. Cupboards are ok. Have deliberated and decided to leave the £8 overspend in July and not deduct it from this month's budget.
£350.00 for August please3
