More trouble with Lebara (or more probably Vodafone)

We have a Lebara SIM and till end of June or so this worked... coverage wasn't great but we normally got through (this is calls only). Since about two weeks though we can't get service. Very occasionally, when upstairs near a window, we do get a connection, but this breaks off quickly. Outdoors, either side of the house, doesn't make a difference, no service at all. So I've put the Lebara SIM into another phone... again, made absolutely no difference, no service. Both phones I've tested work OK with other SIMs (one RWG (EE), the other Three). Alas, both these phones don't support WiFi calling.

The Vodafone checker insists that we have good indoors/outdoors coverage for 4G (we never had good coverage, I think, though their idea of good may be different to mine) and there's not been any mention of trouble where we live. Lebara told us to check their website and restart the phone (already had done that) but other than that they have not been helpful.

I assume something with the mast that's (supposed to be) supplying us has changed but as Lebara seems not very interested in dealing with this problem, I'm wondering what are our options... if any?

You can obtain a lot of information from the Netmonitor app, though I can't claim to understand it all.  Perhaps knowing the location of the mast you're connected to will be useful.
I use Lebara and the Vodafone checker claims I have good coverage.  This isn't the case, and I have to use WiFi calling inside my stone-built house.

What service do get in a different location (such as a town centre). If it works fine there then it is a mast issue near to your home.

The coverage checker you refer to is just a guide and would not reflect any short term issues with a local mast. It won't help using it to ascertain whether there is a problem or not.

Lebara are dependent upon Vodafone resolving the problem if the local mast is faulty.
  • Obviously not the ideal solution, but are you able to use WiFi calling with your handset? Lebara do support it. (Sorry, you can't, didn't fully read your post re WiFi Calling).
The Lebara(Vodafone) signal locally is not good and I have to rely on WiFi calling.
If all the other networks are o.k., then, as suggested it could be a local Vodafone issue.

Well... Voda is very weak in all the neighbourhood. We're on the outskirts and even on the A road into town there's barely a usable signal. In town all is well, though. So looks we've go to town for a call :astonished:

As to being possibly "short term", this is why I waited around a fortnight before posting and in that time, things have not improved in any way.

Seriously, given that we had other probs already with those guys, it'll probably mean the end of the road. We'll somehow burn through the rest of our credit and then stop using them.

    Thanks all!
