Another I didn’t mean to bid on your item thread

They seem to be out in force at the moment.  I’m selling an item on ebay that received a bid a couple of days ago, and just got the my grandchildren bid on this when I was looking and I’m a pensioner and can’t afford this please can you cancel nonsense.
I really want to send a sarcastic response about using passwords or not leaving children alone with tech !!

I haven't looked at it for a while - but can't you point them to the section of 'how to withdraw your bid' so they get the strike not you?

The seller doesn't get a strike either way but if there's time left in auction I would perhaps suggest buyer withdraws it themselves just to inconvenience them a little. If they didn't I would cancel bid though before auction ends.

I always block these people too, they are either liars or completely incompetent and shouldn't be on ebay.

I'm having trouble with people actually using BIN and then cancelling at the moment

I 'love' this sort of buyer — MoneySavingExpert Forum

I wonder how these people get on in reallife.

Thanks for the advice.  There is a few days left so I’ve told them, that they need to retract the bid, I’ll keep checking and if they don’t do that will cancel the bid myself.  I’ll definitely be blocking them.

So after telling the buyer she needed to cancel, she came back and said she couldn’t work out how to do it, so I have now cancelled, as buyer requested to cancel, and have blocked her from bidding.

I would have told them to phone ebay for help.  Let them suffer the hands of ebay support and explain how they
let minors access her account, not that ebay will care but she may have a meltdown trying to follow supports instructions
when they have old data where everythings been moved since.

It was getting a bit close to the auction ending and I didn’t want the hassle of a non paying bidder.  Luckily someone else bid and has paid so all sorted now.

I've just sold a voucher for around £80.

Buyer contacted me almost immediately to say they wanted to cancel as they couldn't buy vouchers by the method they were using. Don't know if this is true or not but anyway...

A bit of a pain but I've got 80% fvf discount this weekend so I will relist tomorrow.

Then a strange thing happened - I got a message from a completely different person saying " Hi. Please send the voucher to this email address...".

Obviously a scam but if the 1st person had already paid I may have sent it to the scammer ....

    Have reported to ebay.

That used to be more common - but like you, people got wise to the 'interrupted' postage con.

Obviously items should only be sent to the address ebay give, and so many people now, myself included, use ebay postage that the con just doesn't work.

I was actually sending it by email as it was an e-voucher but luckily I double checked the buyers username.

For future reference don't use email. You need online proof of delivery to the geographic address given by ebay- an email will not protect you from a chargeback or even an INR.

It's a common scam to buy a code or voucher, then claim non receipt. To be covered you would need to physically send it to the buyer.
