HANDHELD VACUUM CLEANER RECOMMENDATIONS, PLEASE

Hi Guys

Please would you kindly let me have your recommendations for the "less expensive" handheld vacuum cleaners?

I am talking about HANDHELD vacuum cleaners, NOT those classed as "Stick" or "Cordless", but the small ones used to get to places indoors that you cannot usually reach by a standard cleaner, to clean the sofa, to pick up animal hair/fur, etc.

NB:  please note the following needs before replying:

- MUST have a reasonable amount of run-time, (eg, Which? top picks only give around 8 minutes' run time, which is ridiculous to use for cleaning).
- MUST be able to pick up cat hair and fur!
- NEEDS TO BE of a design where the machine or a very long nozzle/tool can get to narrow areas, (eg, sides of bed, between cupboards, etc).
- HAS TO BE under £100!
- Preferably has a reasonably short charge time.

It would be great to hear your own experiences, please.

Many thanks, in advance, for your replies!

But, the Henry cordless is 1. A stick and 2. £229.99 (which includes a £70 price reduction)

I think the OP will struggle to find something with all the requirements at the price they want to pay.

I have one of these from Hoover at £75: Hoover H-HANDY 700 Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner with Lightweight Design, 3-in-1 Functionality, Charging Dock, and Up to 12 Minutes of Runtime https://amzn.eu/d/024qqNZD

It's pretty decent and I get about 15 mins runtime between charges - and the pet hair attachment does well at tidying up after the cat.

Thanks, but as I said, I am particularly looking for a HANDHELD vacuum cleaner, as above.

Have you looked at the many brands of car vacuum cleaners? Maybe one of those will have features you want

Thank you.  Looks good!  (- but not from Amazon, since I avoid them until they become a ethical business.)

I've got the G-Tech one it's fab, does all the things you want ( I have 5 cats) and runs for ages and really good suction. You're not going to get what you want for under £100 I'm afraid - I bought several cheaper ones before I bought this and they were all useless. This 'feels' like a vacuum cleaner, substantial and powerful - the cheap ones feel like toys. G-tech often have offers and sales, just sign up for the newsletter

Also, most stick vacuums can have the stick removed to become a handheld.

But I think the budget will need to be higher.
  • I've had a Vax (useless) and now a Bosch which is reasonable although now age is creeping up on me and I have arthritis, it's really difficult to remove the dust box to empty the thing. I have three cats and feel the Bosch is underpowered for fur and hair. It's fine for dry spills on hard surfaces in the kitchen but for fur and hair I get out the elderly Miele Cat and Dog machine I can kick around; still going strong at 14. I do think the budget is going to be a problem.
