Problem getting sim replaced

Options
People I call say they can't hear me clearly. Samsung said: clean the sim. Did that, still the same. Samsung said: replace the sim. But Smarty say they'll suspend the service when I order a replacement, and restore it when I get the new sim and register it, whatever. The suspension is highly inconvenient. Any thoughts?

Smarty are taking that precaution to prevent a fraudster from taking over your phone number and receiving bank one-time codes to empty your account, etc.
Have you tried a different SIM in your handset, and/or your SIM in a different phone, to determine which is actually faulty..?

Call someone using WhatsApp or similar - ie. a service using WiFi instead of the mobile network. If they still can't hear you, then it's likely a problem with the phone, such as the mic hole being partly blocked.

A faulty sim would not cause poor audio quality. A poor quality mobile signal or a poor quality, damaged or blocked up micophone would.

As victor2 said, try using an IP service somewhere with good WIFI and aks them how that sounds.

  • Could even try a recording app on your phone to verify the mic is OK.
