Myself and the wife have recently had a horrendous flight experience to Kenya.
It started with an email from our original carrier cancelling the flight from Heathrow, and then putting us on another flight with a second carrier, 9 hours later and changing at Doha. This second flight then would have made us 11 hours late to our destination. No explanation or apology of why the flight was cancelled, so obviously the compensation would kick in.
Then the new flight was delayed at the airport, no explanation again, so we missed the transfer. They then decided to send us to Nigeria on a jolly, before picking up another flight back to Kenya. All in all we were now 24 hours late to our final destination, and the experience in Nigeria was not good but I'm not going into that.
Question is, I am in the middle of a claim with the first carrier and it looks like it's going well so far. Do I have grounds for a second claim with the second carrier ? As it really was a new booking and that was 13 hours late to arrive at the destination.
Please don't come back with a don't be greedy line, this was an awful experience, things I am not going into, and hotel bookings had to be moved, safaris changed, that 24 hour delay messed up our once in a lifetime holiday.

Yes - you can claim for both the cancellation and the delay on the new flight. The case law for this is A and Others v Finnair Oy
