Car Insurance cancelled - GoSkippy / Somerset Bridge Ltd

Frustration is that GoSkippy will not speak on the phone and instead offer only email correspondence. As Go Skippy is a trading name of Somerset Bridge Insurance Services Ltd you would hope they would speak on the telephone.0

The fact they removed from cover immediately is a red flagEssex_Jim said:Digging further, she had a policy with GoSkippy which she cancelled (Not GoSkippy) as she went to work aboard. This was five years ago. Maybe this has been recorded incorrectly?
For sure she continues to pursue GoSkippy.
Is there not a central database for all this information that we can ask someone to checkout?
Suggests that their is a story behind this
Also fact is she has definitely now had a policy cancelled which is just as big if not a bigger issueI’m fairly certain there’s not a central database of cancellations but others will be able to confirm.1 -
CUE is the main counter fraud database used by insurers but not all companies subscribe, it does hold information on things like insurer cancellations. Its run by the MIB who also run MID and a few other databases, just make sure you choose CUE when doing a Subject Access Request https://www.mib.org.uk/managing-insurance-data/requesting-your-dataEssex_Jim said:

I wonder if she took this policy on installments over the 12 months and when she cancelled mid-term, she also cancelled her direct debit? As these policies are over 12 months, if she didn't pay the remaining premiums, there could be an outstanding balance due, which may trigger the action on her current policy. As I say, just a theory!Essex_Jim said:

Something about her matches a previous cancelled policyEssex_Jim said:
Nothing she can remember?elsien said:Surely she’d know if she’d had a policy cancelled? If only because it would have impacted on all her insurance since then?
she needs to contact them to get the reasons. Or at least give you the permission to discuss her policy
could it be a policy from more than 4 years ago?
For sure she continues to pursue GoSkippy.

Essex_Jim said:... She has never had a policy cancelled before, having 4 years of no claims...... Anyone experienced anything like this or can offer any advice?
The advice I would give - with respect - is that your daughter and not you ought to be posting on here as you obviously didn't know the full story when you started this thread.Essex_Jim said:

Is your daughter absolutely sure in her recollection from five years ago that she cancelled the policy?0 -
Had feedback from GoSkippy that the cancellation was five years ago which is when she cancelled a policy (She went to work aboard). She has correspondence from the time to show she cancelled the policy. She has now gone back to GoSkippy to 'align' that cancellation was driven from her side.
@dwsjarcmcd I will get her to check the payment method on the policy to see if a cancelled / non paid Direct Debit could have triggered a record.
@cw8825 I too am concerned about the red flags and ongoing consequences. This does need to be 'closed off'0
