yeah destiny star, depending on where you are going and when, still works out cheaper. There is 5 of us, we went to haven in the middle of july, only cost us £150 with entertainment passes. But if we had booked through haven would have cost us well over £200 easily. so you do save.

Does anyone know if dogs are allowed on these £9.50 deals ?

We are looking for a cheap break for February Half Term for the two of us and our well behaved Cocker Spaniel pooch.

We took our golden retriever puppy who was 5 months old on our sun holiday. We did the booking with the sun and then after we got confirmation we phoned the park we were going to and payed £10 (I think) to take her. You have to book direct with the park after confirmation though. Might be worth phoning the park you wish to go to and double check they allow dogs as a couple of parks dont (majority do though) Hope that helps

Just checked the haven website, it says.......

Most dogs are welcome in selected accommodation at all Parks except Burnham-on-Sea, Riviere Sands, Lydstep Beach or Half Board accommodation, at a supplement £40 per dog per week and £20 per dog per short break (up to a maximum of two dogs per booking) We reserve the right to decline the following breeds: Pitball Terrier, Dogo Argentino, Fil Brasiliero & Japenese Tosa. Please note: The management reserve the right to exclude any of the afore mentioned breeds if brought to our Parks, along with any dog which is out of control and/or showing signs of aggression.

Sorry it will be £20 a dog not £10

£100 sounds like a lot for the service charges etc - did you upgrade your holiday home?

You are correct though it is not just £9.50 each, there are some extras that you must have but some that you don't need:

    - Service charge - this is for electricity etc and is typically approx £5 / nighht per holiday home.

    - Entertainment passes- you may have to pay this or may not - the price varies a lot but I have never paid more than a couple of pounds per person

Details of these costs are with the information for each holiday park so you can make an informed decision on the total cost when you book.

    - If there are less than 4 of you, you will still pay for 4 ppl - ie £38, but you don't need to pay the extra entertainment passes etc - when you get your invoice from the park for the extras, you can ask them to remove the entertainment passes you don't need.

    - Linen - you will normally be charged for this but if you don't want it, take your own and ask the park to remove it from the invoice.

    - If you go on the summer dates, you pay an extra £5.50 perperson for this.

I THINK that is all - basically , if you do your research you should get a good deal. I have heard of instances where it works out cheaper to book direct with the park than via the sun deal so always check that too! Generally speaking, I've found the European hols to be the best value.

Hiya, just saw this thread and the hol sounds great, was just wondering do you need to apply anywhere for a priority booking form or are they only available to people who've been on one of these £9.50 deals before.

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah , you ony get the priority application when you have been on a sun hol before.

its not "admin fee" its just the basic 3 or 4 night price per person ( minimum of 4)
of course linen / services / entertainments passes etc are added to this

but you dont have to take the linen or entertainments passes

£100 for family of 4 is still a bargain though ,no?!!!

it MAY be cheaper to book direct with the park itself if you want term time,so always worth getting a quote

BUT there ARE huge savings to be made,we saved £400 when we went to a French site in 2006 & 2007 :D

also saved on UK breaks too :)

on our april 08 3 night break - saved £114
    oct 07 3 night break - saved £102 (even with an upgrade to a 3 bed )
  • Hi,

We have been on a few Sun Holiday breaks and have always found them to be good value and have stayed in good parks. However, we have always stayed in either Parkdean or Shorefield accommodation. We are now considering staying in a Haven park, the Rockley Park, Dorset. Has anyone stayed here? How does it compare to the other parks? What can we expect from a Haven park?

    Thank you for any advice,

    Rebecca
