In April due to the the recent rain in Dubai my flight was delayed at Gatwick for 1 day, the following day they assured me all was working fine before I checked in otherwise I would have delayed a week and tried again.
Anyway at Gatwick they delayed the new flight 9 hours then boarded us, on boarding I received an email from Emirates saying 'Do not come to Dubai Airport'. I expected that we would be taken off the aircraft and all need to rebook. Instead the flight decided to take off and we were given no opportunity to disembark.
In Dubai airport it was a total mess and I was delayed another day with no help, almost impossible to get any food and there was no offer of anywhere to sleep.
Emirates are saying that I am due no compensation for being Delayed in Dubai as it was a natural disaster - however I have email proof that they knew Dubai was in shambles before takeoff. I can't see how they 'weren't aware' that I would be delayed? It was a very short holiday of 8 days to Australia and it then ended up being even shorter, my bag was lost for 5 days and they are refusing compensation for that as well.
