I work in finance but ive applied for another job (still in finance) if i have a CCJ, will this affect my application or cant they see anything like this?
I know they do screen checks etc in probation period?

If there's screening then highly possible that this will be noted.0

Would have thought the advert would tell you what checks would be undertaken?0

thanks all, no nothing on the advert however when i joined my company we had a screening, this was 5 years ago so i presume they all follow suit?
would if affect my application, or if i landed the job then they do the screening, would they not let me following the probation period.0 -
It'll depend on the company, it's not common unless it's certain industries, particularly finance or where you may need something like SC clearance. If it comes up, be honest with them that it'll be seen, depending on their rules it may mean they withdraw the job, if not, enjoy the new job

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

or is it a regular thing if you have a ccj?0 -
If you are going to be working for a firm regulated by the PRA or FCA then they have a legal obligation to ensure that employees are Fit and Proper for working for the firm. This will normally include references for 5 years, proofs of what was happening in any gaps over 28 days between employments, credit checks etc.
It's almost certainly worth being open about it up front as there is no point waisting time if its going to be a hard no.
If firms aren't regulated themselves but supply services into those that are then there is more variability over the level of the requirements, some hold themselves to the same standards, others do no checks at all0 -

If you were a financial services worker for example and had a CCJ that they found when they did a credit check, you may well have the job offer withdrawn - the age isn't necessarily important if they have a blanket rule.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

thanks, very helpful, when I joined the firm i am at now it was a screening and a background check, I have no issues however its the ccj that was in 2021 that I'm worried about,
the firm i am at now is the same financial sector as the once I'm applying for, its insolvency.
I'm just worried that if i pass the interview and they offer me the job, i hand my notice in my current job then because of the ccj i will then have no job and the new firm withdraw

Ask the firm if they need to do a credit check, if they haven't already asked you - if you have a job offer, what do the terms say e.g. about offer pending a credit check etc?
