Not money-saving, but.......

If you could have one person back in your life, who would it be?

Although I miss a number of people, it's my Mother above all people I miss.
Today is the worst as it's the anniversary of her death  ....

I'm sorry, hun - I found things do get easier with the years but you're never quite the same again. For me, it'd be my father who died 16 years ago.

I'm sorry for your loss. Today must be a painful reminder for you with it being the anniversary. If possible try not to dwell on it too much though as I'm sure she wouldn't want you upsetting yourself.

For me it would be my grandma who died a couple of years ago. She had a long life though so I am happy for that.

I know what you mean :grouphug:

I miss both my parents but loss of Mum is more recent and think perhaps I was closer to her.

I miss someone who although is still alive, is lost to us forever.
My mum has Alzheimers, and was diagnosed 8 years ago at the age of 57. Sadly she now lives in a nursing home as her needs are so great.
Almost every day, the child in me wants to cry and shout "I want my mum", but I can't have her, she doesn't know me now and it hurts
  • (((HUGS))) To all of you. The thing is when we think about it we feel sad and at a loos without these people which is only human. But in my experience it is far better although it is hard at first, to be positive. On their birthdays release a balloon with a personal message attatched. At christmas write a message for them on a specail gift card and hang it on the tree. Make a point of visiting them at good times and bad, make sure that they know that although they are not there they are not forgotten and are as loved now as they were loved before. They dont want to see you sad, they dont want you to feel as though they have gone forever. They have not, they watch over you, care for you and love you as much as they did when the were on this earth. Nothing changes, it only grows stronger. Just because you cannot see them you convince yourself that they are not there anymore, thus making you feel sadder. It is us that needs to remeber, have a little faith. Do something special to remember your loved one.:A

    Hi there

For me, it would have to be my dad.... we lost him on the 22nd dec -which was my 16th birthday, so this year it was 20 years ago. But as much as i miss him, and think of him often... i no longer find it painfull - in fact i often find myself laughing at some of the things he used to do.... and smiling when i do something that i know he would have loved, or see something he would have found funny..

I don't visit the crematorium or get down on anniversaries anymore as i know it isn't what he would have wanted... and im just grateful for the extra years we had with him that we might not have had...

I know what you mean - my Dad would sit in the armchair and conduct ABBA, so now I smile when I hear 'Take a chance on me.' I don't know where his ashes are - I don't do memorials or visits of that kind.
  • my pops, definitely. he tought me guitar though, and its an amazing thing to pass on - after he passed away I just played his guitar for days, the thing didn't leave my side. and its weird, but I have his hands and sometimes I'll play something and unconsciously make a movement or facial expression 'mimicing' the ones he used to do - really throws it into perspective that through knowing him he gave me something which lives on through me, like he isn't truly gone.
