Where to get USD cash in London (or Istanbul airport)

I'm paying USD cash for a tour in Turkey (they're not very keen on their own currency). Is there an ATM in London (esp. Heathrow) or in the airport at Istanbul where I could withdraw about $1000? One that doesn't convert the amount to Sterling before the debit goes through to my bank.

MoneyCorp ATMs may still dispense foreign currency 'without conversion' at Gatwick, Stansted and Southend airports, not Heathrow.

Will the tour company not accept cash GBP?

I haven’t bought currency in the UK for a few years but I always found Thomas Exchange Global to be competitive. I do recognise that you’re specifically asking for an ATM, and the nearest to Heathrow would be Hammersmith so this might well fail on two points but I thought I’d mention it. 

As another point, there are two international airports in Istanbul so you may need to specify which one you’re using if anyone is able to help on that front.

I would be very suspicious about this.

As others have said, negotiate a payment in GBP.

Failing that, does your tour begin as soon as you arrive in Turkey? There are many bureaux de change in central Istanbul that offer rates that are far more competitive than any you will find in the UK. Those at the airports will of course rip you off.

I've used AceFX in London (there's a branch at London Bridge) to get hold of cash in different currencies at slightly less horrible rates than airports.
