Mercedes cannot find my records

I bought a Mercedes C180 reg no KW08 VDR in May 2009 from Mercedes Epsom Branch on HP but sold it in 2017.
I contacted Mercedes to check if a discretionary commission arrangement was made between a broker and Mercedes at the time.
I have been informed that they can't trace my records.
What do I do? I bought the car in 2009. I don't have any proof of details about the car apart from the registration number, make and model & colour of the car.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

As Matt says though, nothing will happen until after the FCA review is completed (there may be no wrongdoing found and everything will be closed off) and then companies may be told to search their records or archives, or contact anyone they can find.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thank you. Very helpful. Will wait for FCA review to complete.0

The FCA have already called out their investigation is being heavily impacted by the fact that finance company have followed the requirements under data protection law and deleted old agreements. They are going to have to opine on what they require companies to do where records have legitimately been deleted and if its anything but saying that without the evidence that DCA applied then there is no legitimate claim you can be fairly sure there will be legal challenge to it.0
