    Yes it's FIT payments just the standsrd FIT export rate but maybe I could negotiate a better deal.

    If you buy your electricity from Octopus there are some much better deals available.  But I don't know if those deals would require you to have a smart meter.  If you asked Octopus and posted about their response, that might help the OP.
