I hope this message in the discussion makes sense.
I have managed to go through my email records and note that I had car finance agreements with Close Brothers.
I have managed to go through my email records and note that I had car finance agreements with Close Brothers.
I have followed Martin's easy instructions on his website with the template letter for three vehicles that I believe had finance with close brothers between September 2008 and December 2011.
Unfortunately, Close Brothers keep sending an automated email back to me stating that they cannot proceed as they do not have the relevant details and I have been to my bank and they cannot help either.
I have given every bit of information that is needed such as addresses, dates of birth, car, registration numbers et cetera but I cannot find the agreement application numbers.
I have just spoken to somebody at Close Brothers finance and they state that they are unable to help me because they need the application number.
Unfortunately, they can only date back seven years so it looks like I cannot proceed with this.
I have even sent them a screenshot from an email of a representative from Close Brothers in 2010 at the time that I did have finance with them.
Would it be acceptable to follow this up with the FCA?
I would be very grateful if anyone could provide me with any help and support.

Unfortunately, Close Brothers keep sending an automated email back to me stating that they cannot proceed as they do not have the relevant details and I have been to my bank and they cannot help either.I doubt that would be automated as it would indicate they have searched and couldn't find it. It would certainly be a template but not automated.I have given every bit of information that is needed such as addresses, dates of birth, car, registration numbers et cetera but I cannot find the agreement application numbers. For firms that archive data for a period of time before destruction of the record, the agreement number is the typical single item that it is filed under.Unfortunately, they can only date back seven years so it looks like I cannot proceed with this.Which is expected and its one that FCA has recognised and mentioned whilst it is completing its review.Would it be acceptable to follow this up with the FCA?You do not have access to the FCA. That isn't what the FCA do. If you mean FOS, then the complaints process on DCA is suspended until after the FCA complete their review. The FOS will not be able to magic data out of the air either.
You need to wait until the FCA complete their review. Its possible that the FCA will instruct firms to bring archived data back onto systems. Just as they did, in the end, with PPI. So, be patient. Nothing is happening at the moment. Wait until the FCA report.

Thank you.
Do you or anyone have any further information on this?
I am still struggling to prove that I had finance but I was wondering if there had been any update regarding this?Unfortunately, they can only date back seven years so it looks like I cannot proceed with this.Which is expected and its one that FCA has recognised and mentioned whilst it is completing its review.

What does the email you found from them say?
In my limited experience of dealing with finance companies they generally include account numbers or other identifiers on correspondence.0 -

I have received a letter from Close Brothers advising they will pay £50 into my bank because of DCA, can I challenge this amount? If so, how do I challenge it?
Many thanks0 -
Is that actually what they said or your assumption.
Its possibly more likely in regard to some other aspect of the loan, were there any arrears, late payments early settlement etc that weren't dealt with correctly? What does the covering letter say?0 -

In that email, there's a button there that says download documents, it takes you to their site and you can reset your password I think if you forgot it.
If you do find and can access your agreement, please could you let me know if your DOB is incorrect on the agreement? It will help me understand another issue I was having if you could confirm whether this is just me or other people too0
