Were you able to solve this? I had issues with my email as well in the past and exactly at that moment when i needed it the most. I was waiting for the personal statement from https://academized.com/write-my-personal-statement and couldn't login to my email. Took me almost a week until everything was back to normal. Had to ask support for a help and all my friends as well.

I tried doing the 2 Step Authenitcation method suggested by Vitor, I received a code OK but following instructions received a long code (made up of letters) but I didn't know what I was supposed to do with it.  Whilst I was pondering this problem Prism posted a link for Outlook which I followed.  I have no idea if this has worked but I have yet to receive any more warning emails.

Just thought I'd mention that the wording "I followed one of the links ....." in the original post made me wince.

It's good practice never to click on links in emails like this. I never click on email links unless it's from someone I know and even then I'm wary of requests for bank details in case the sender's email account has been hacked.

It could be a spammer pretending to be Microsoft.

I too use Outlook via a tab on Chrome browser. If I get that message I'll go directly to my Outlook account and update it there, not by clicking on any link.
