I have been successfully using Quicken XG for 20 years. The software may be dated, but I have not found anthing remotely as good. It works perfectly on windows 10. Has anyone experience installing and using it in Windows 11? Will it still work properly? Thanks

Hi, I've just downloaded Quicken XG 2004 from the quicken website on my Windows 11 laptop. It downloaded as an .exe file so I extracted the files and ran them. It installed fine and allowed me to setup accounts etc. with no problem.
Incidently, I've been using Quicken 2017 (US) for the last 6 or 7 years and is just an improved version of 2004. I just ignore the $ sign and pretend it's £. Unfortunately they are trying their level best to stop it from working (even though I legitimately bought it) but I've managed to keep it working so far.1 -
Many thanks, Peter999_2. Did you run the .exe file in compatibilty mode? Were there any .dll files missing during the installation? I have a copy of the original quicken XG 2004 installation CD on my laptop, but in case I run into a problem please can you let me have a link to the downlaod on the Quicken website.

Hi Buffman, I didn't run the .exe file in compatibility mode and there wasn't any errors about missing .dll files though I do have the Visual C++ redistributble installed on the laptop.
The link to the .exe file is below (I used 7-zip to unpack it)

The link is in step 1.
Hope you get it working, though I have a feeling that it is the US version (though it let me change to multi-currency in the settings so I could select £ for accounts). Hopefully you'll just be able to use the original CD version0 -
When MS Money stopped, I ran it for many years after but eventually I switched to the open source MoneyManagerEx. https://moneymanagerex.org/

Having just moved over to Windows 11 I reinstalled my trusty Quicken XG 2004 (UK). Once I got over my missing dlls everything seemed to be fine. However it refused to backup my accounts and then just locked up. Also the graphs were not clearing down properly on a screen refresh. If you are happy to live with any remaining idiosyncrasies then by all means continue with it. I however have finally bitten the bullet after 20 years, purchased AceMoney and imported everything into it. This has a 30 day trial so you could always see if it meets your needs.

Haven't got to W11 yet, but may run it in a VM if W11 doesn't like it.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

I have just installed the UK version of Quicken on a new Windows 11 laptop. It installed and works perfectly including backups.0

I'm running Quicken 95 on Windows 11 without significant problems. Would be lost without it.0
