I'm struggling to see how anyone with a £900k Estate does not own, or have recently owned property?
And please can you confirm that you haven't included any death in service benefits in the £900k?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I never said she didn't have a property and no i havent included any death in service or pension benefits. I asked for help with completing one section of the PA1A form and I was pointed to a calculator that wasn't giving me the gross and net amounts for probate.
I cant be expected to give full background details that arent relevent every time I ask a question. If you want background details you can read them below but they really arent relevant to this question since I'm not asking anyone to do the calculation for me.

@bikeman
The calculator does not apply any RNRB which may be due.

I stand and am happy to be corrected but my understanding based on your (I'm assuming estimated) figures for your ex wife's estate is:
Gross value of estate £973629 (including property to inherited by daughters)
Net value of estate £967377
less NRB £325000
less RNRB if due,
(maximum) £175000
IHT due on £425377
Perhaps this is what you were expecting/hoping to find from the calculator?0 -
No. I want to know how to fill in this section of the PA1A.

I've looked at the form PA1A.
If you go back to question 6.2 and look at note 6 you will see that because IHT is due you need to submit an IHT return to HMRC and pay the IHT due.
After that is done you then go to question 6.6, then finalise and
submit the PA1A.
As I see it you only complete 6.3 and 6.5 if you don't need make an IHT return to HMRC.
