Then look forward to the 5 minute waste of time Mediation phone call you read about.

Might just play along and keep them busy for the whole hour.
I don’t know if it’s a new thing but on my N180 they have what reads like a pilot scheme that you can select the judge to make a ruling by just reading submitted paperwork (defence etc).
Ive actually had to put a reason why I want it to be done in person.

    That's not new.
It has always been an option to have the matter determined 'on the papers', and it has always been suggested that that would be a bad thing. You want to be heard. You want to be able to object to some of the rubbish spouted by the Claimant's hired hand.

Note the Particulars: failure to pay for parking.

I suggest paying the company the three quid or whatever, via an app on any of their car parks, or another car park machine and submit the evidence in your WS.

It nullifies their cause of action.

Should keep me amused for an hour.

    "Should keep me amused ......"

If the Mediator refers to the invoice/charge as fine/penalty etc. no doubt you will have pleasure in correcting them accordingly (hopefully won't be anywhere near an hour long call).

5 minutes but please give the Mediator feedback that this idea is not suited to disputed parking charges from scam companies.

The more times Mediators hear that same feedback, the better.  At some point in the next year or two, there will be a review of how Compulsory Mediation is going.

  • I’m going to aim to keep it going for the whole hour even if it results in sitting in silence.

Actually that would be good. Waste the Claimant's time.  However the Mediator would end the call if you were not engaging.
