Hi all,
As the title says really.  Looking for a card I can spend here and abroad with no fee. But also looking for 0% on purchases for a number of months.  Can anyone direct me?  Thanks

Do you need to have both with one card? You could just get two separate cards?

If you're worried about the impact on credit score/history/file, apply for a zero percent card first, then apply for a travel credit card. If you can't get the travel credit card, just get a debit card instead, such as Chase, Starling, of First Direct.

As far as I'm aware, there are no cards currently on the market that offer both benefits.  There are several now that are good for fee-free foreign-currency transactions (Halifax Clarity is one of the old favourites, but there are now several competitors, some of which are even better),  The 0% on purchases tends to be limited to Sterling transactions (at least, they don't offer the no-FX-fee that the "travel" cards do).  I tend to agree, you're probably better off going for two separate cards.  This article should hopefully give you a good starting point: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/borrowing/

I'm going abroad for the first time in ages. So, did all the research and applied for the Halifax Clarity. Then came across the new NatWest Travel credit card and applied for that as it gives rewards, but got a miserly credit limit.
Worked out whether it would be cheaper to just use a normal 0% card and pay the foreign transaction fee
Now come across your post, applied for the Nationwide All Rounder. Got a credit limit ten times what NatWest gave me, another 50% more than what Halifax gave me. Why doesn't this card show up in any tables?
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Become a member. I wonder if they'd let you open a credit card at the same time as a current account?

Nationwide, whilst slow with their responses, are fantastic at providing credit and high limits.

It's a long time since I did it - possibly 2016, but that is exactly what Nationwide did for me. I was opening a bank account online, and they sent a message saying if I applied for a credit card at the same time I would only need one hard search. They even gave an indicative limit.

It's likely not shown as they don't pay commission - many sites will push the ones they get paid for, sites like MSE do offer cards that are particularly noteworthy that they don't get paid for but if it is similar to other offers, they often won't

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
