Mistake made. I've switched from my bank account to Lloyds but old account only has two DD! Switch day is 9th July and one more is needed to receive cashback. Is there any way I can quickly add an extra Direct Debit to my old account?
Thanks for any help.

PayPal is a good one and possibly Plum, though the t&c might not accept DDs set up after the switch is initiated.

If that's correct you're already too late.

Yes, and we know that LBG actually make the payment while the switch is still ongoing (often a few days before). The only hope is that the 3 DD condition isn't actually enforced - if it is then your only option will be to start again, set up a 'burner account' with 3 active DDs, then apply for a new Lloyds account and switch again.

Thanks. I will know quite quickly if the cashback is refused as they pay ten days after the switch is complete. As the offer is open until 31st July I then have the chance to open a new account - and get it set up right to receive the cashback.
I'm glad to say that Lloyds seem to be one of the easier banks to set up online.
I'm actually tempted to call Lloyds and cancel the switch stating I've changed my mind.
    Any thoughts on that idea?

I use 30pence.co.uk, worked fine for me for Lloyds switch !
  • Thanks for the comments everyone and the DD advice.
I've decided to keep the Lloyds account for future use (to switch from).
Hopefully I won't have it for too long.

There's a very good thread discussing sacrifical DDs for use for account switching here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6445857/savings-investment-dds-and-debit-card-deposits-an-updated-list/p1

I personally use MoneyBox, Plum, PayPal and Currensea for switching, and then move around some household bills (electricity/gas, water, council tax, credit card, etc) for longer-term ones needed for on-going rewards.

It should be noted though that most of the options take *a long time* to set up and get a first payment taken (not usually strictly neccessary but pretty much the only way of proving a DD existed in the case of a switch issue). The exceptions are Moneybox, Plum and Paypal which start the process of establishing a DD immediately and will take the first payment about 10 days later.
  • Just to update. Ten working days since switch started (switch completed on 9th July) and no sign of the cashback. Not even an email stating I'm not not eligible.

Did you get the 3rd DD set up & showing on ‘old’ account before switch date?
