Small claims court guidance from UKPC and DCB Legal

  • Hi all, please accept my apologies for posting again but I’d like some concrete advice on how to complete my DQ given that both of my local courts have paper hearings. Having read the forum it appears a lot more people lose this way. What I really need to know is if DCB legal are likely to continue through the process knowing that there is more chance of winning? If so, then I will opt for another court and give reasons.

@Coupon-mad I’m sorry, I know you have told me what you’d do but I am panicking beyond belief and just want a higher chance of discontinuation so do you believe this will still be ok?

    Again, thanks so much.

I think if they have any sense they'd be more likely to continue if it's being heard on the papers.

Any chance of you swapping your service address to a different court area? You can say you've 'just moved' and your address for service is now X and the nearest Court is Y.

Relative's address where they won't be spooked by court letters and do something stupid like panic and pay on your behalf, and can be trusted to show you every letter within 24 hours?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    That’s perfect. Thank you.

I think I’d rather do that if there is any chance at all that DCB won’t discontinue. In that case then, my address will be Leighton Buzzard and my Court will be Milton Keynes. I assume this would be ok?

Also, I have now fluffed up the paper version that I was going to manually sign and scan across. Can I download one online and perform a digital signature instead? If so, how do I do the electronic signature?

    Yes download a copy.

You can take a photo of your actual signature on white paper then crop the pic and the N180 form will probably let you put the image in.

No need for a photo or facsimile of your signature. A digital signature is you simply typing your name where the signature goes. All perfectly acceptable and legal. If you want to be fancy, just use a script typeface.

Thanks for your advice. Are you 100% sure that’s ok? Every forum I’ve checked says it needs to be signed. Please don’t think I’m doubting you, I just want to insure it is correct. Also, how would I do the script typeface? Absolute technology amateur.

That's why I didn't suggest it. Do it the easy way that works for you.

How did this go? Are you still waiting?  Asking because I am going through the DQ part now and looking at threads to see how they get on. Yours is very interesting!

The OP was last active on the Forum on 19th September last year and probably won't see your post.  Suggest you could send a DM by using the envelope symbol top right or, if you only want advice on completing a DQ, this is available in the second post of the NEWBIE sticky.
