Virgin money payment sent 2 days ago but no money received yet?

My wife send me £20 pounds and it’s been 2 days no money yet. Seemingly they had some issues but it shouldn’t take 2 days. What if it had been for paying for something important?

What does online banking or the app say regarding the status of the transfer?

As @LinLui asks above, have you called them?

As for "what ifs" do Virgin guarantee transfers within a certain time frame?

Payments are required to arrive by the end of the following business day, if the transfer was done on Friday then it has to arrive by the end of Monday. Normally transfers arrive in under 2 hours but I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it until Tuesday, by which time it is very likely to have arrived.

System maintenance is undertaken at weekends. Not a banking working day.

Virgin Money had issues with both incoming & outgoing payments on Friday 28th. 

I spent over 30 minutes on hold on phone today about an unrelated issue before giving up. Barclays HSBC & Nationwide were also affected. Lots of press coverage
