Tesco still the cheapest for newcomer?

I've done a search on ADSL guide and haven't come up with anything better without any hidden costs.
I don't want to be tied in to an isp after 12 months and don't want to pay a cancellation fee if I change.
Is this the best idea for me?

Please can you post the deal that you are referring to, and then people can comment better.
I do not know of a Tesco deal that for a newcomer beats the Force9/Plusnet deal £14.99 a month for the first year, Total Cost of Ownership for the year on 2Mb £179.88 .0 -
Hello.
The Tesco's deal is £17.99 a month for 512k, with free modem and connection.
The plusnet one is food for thought - 2Mb and £14.99. I wasn't too happy about the cancellation fee if you decide to leave after a year:
For every year you stay with PlusNet we’ll guarantee that the cancellation cost decreases. What does this mean? If you cancel within the first year, then you will pay £58.75 for the activation. For every year you stay we’ll reduce this by £11.75. If you also choose to take a modem as part of the offer there will be an additional cancellation fee of £25 in the first year and this will reduce by £5 for each year that you stay.
Which means it will be £83 to cancel if you don't like them.
On the other hand, the three quid a month saving will be £36 for the year, so it may be a good bet to go for them if they're okay. I'll check their rating.
Thanks for your help.0 -
If you can pay up front E7even are offering 12 months for £170 (£14.16 per month) or 24 months for £240 (£10 per month) including connection and modem.

There's currently a special offer to get 1mb instead of 512K for the same price.

Yikes, they did not used to have that cancellation fee and I did not notice it. Force9 are quite good, though their customer services has a certain attitude to it.
http://www.e7even.com look unbeatable on price, however https://www.madasafish.co.uk (who I'm with) do 2Mb 2Gb included traffic for £17.99, with free setup and free modem and 2 months free. So it would be £179.90 for a year around £15 a month. As I said they are more expensive that https://www.e7even.com, but I used to be on https://www.metronet.co.uk at 512 and I have really noticed the speed increase to 2mb.0 -

You will have saved £36 for the year but also, the cancellation charge will be reduced by 1/5 so will cost £67 not £83.
Why would you want to leave Plusnet
