as an aside to banking apps, but related, I am a YNAB (You Need A Budget) user and although they do have an app, I always use the desktop version for entering transactions - it is just easier (for me anyway).

But all the banking stuff I do on my phone.

Given the choice of a 25 inch monitor or a tiny phone screen. It's PC for me every time when it comes to serious tasks.
Good job I never do anything serious. Haven't had a desktop since 1997, and haven't had a laptop since 2015.

The ability to see more is a huge time saver. When it comes manuals, technical diagrams flow charts.
Yup, I think most people would struggle with those using an online banking app...

As Power of Attorney for parent, I can only use online banking via the banks websites to manage their accounts (3 different banks, although 2 are part of the same banking group)  - PoA access is not available via the apps

Thank you all for your comments.

I used the word "online" to mean the web browser version as opposed to the mobile app. Apologies if my terminology caused confusion.

Totally agree with Hoenir about preferring to work on a larger screen rather than a piddly little phone screen.

What banks don't allow POA via an app?

Nationwide I think is one but could be wrong. I heard that unless those that act as attorneys have Nationwide accounts themselves, they cannot transact online on behalf of the donor and transactions can only be carried out in branch , which seems a massive inconvenience if a bill needs paying .

    IME Halifax, Lloyds & Nationwide

As stated above, Nationwide (who were also the most difficult of the three, by a country mile, to register the PoA with 😡) will only allow me online access because I am an existing customer myself.

Analysis of my yearly income and expenditure is quick and easy using Microsoft Excel and downloading a year’s worth of transactions using the banks’ websites and laptop. However, for day-to-day banking, including opening accounts, transferring money and checking statements my go-to is the apps on my smartphone.

    would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .

I much prefer PC website to apps for my banking/financial affairs.

I have seen no difference between the two as regards quality/upgrades etc etc

There may be a slight nuance between "allowing" access and technically being able to have an app support more than one customer. So, if you removed your own Nationwide account from the app, could you add the PoA account?
