What to do with TV with damaged screen?

To be fair to them, last year I had a Samsung LED TV which was 4 years and 11 months old, 2 of the lamps on the back became detached and the collected it, replaced all the lamps, and returned it inside of a week. That's pretty decent service for a 5 year free extended warrantyEssexExile said:
Yes, the famous Richer Sounds 6 year guarantee isn't as good as lots of people assume.elsmandino said:Thanks everyone - really helpful comments.
Unfortunately, given the TV's age, Richer Sounds were only able to offer me a % of the TV's original value (£230.00) towards a TV so I am going to have to spend at least the same again to get a replacement.
Anything I could get from the old TV would be really useful at the moment - I wasn't really budgeting for a new TV at the moment and expected this one to last longer than it has.
Thanks again. Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -
More likely the screen ribbon cable into main mother board. A fairly easy fix if you are OK taking electronics apart. Lots of You Tube help available.Kiran said:Vertical green lines can be a fault of your input cable. Try a new/different HDMI lead and see if it persists. Hopefully that's all it is
Nobody fixes anything anymore so parts are unlikely to sell and probably sit around forever. If you do sell, spares and repairs with an honest descriptionSignature on holiday for two weeks1 -
I did take the TV apart and unhooked the two ribbon cables that attach to the connectors on the screen itself.Mutton_Geoff said:

I gave everything a bit of a clean and hooked everything back up but the problem is still there.
Do you think it is worth checking the other end of the cables? I never thought of doing that.0 -
Got to be worth a go - you seemingly already know how to get there.elsmandino said:

The You Tuber I saw fixed the ribbon at the motherboard rather than the screen. They cleaned the edge connector.Signature on holiday for two weeks1

Thanks for that - could you possibly post the URL of the Youtube video you saw, please?Mutton_Geoff said:The You Tuber I saw fixed the ribbon at the motherboard rather than the screen. They cleaned the edge connector.0 -
Didn't save the link in my history but there are dozens of "fix vertical line on my LG TV" videos.elsmandino said:
