Transferring from Vodafone to Talk Mobile
An elderly friend of mine who has a smartphone has had a Vodafone pay as you go account for years.
These days she seems to be on some kind of legacy account where Vodafone charges her £1.00 per day if she uses the phone at all. She's not the kind who keep the phone switched off in the glovebox but more she keeps it at home, switched on and connected to wi-fi.
So she's been getting charged every day as it would seem the smallest amount of data usage via the network is sufficient to trigger the charge. It's costing her £31 a month and she's not knowingly using it!
She went to a Vodafone shop where they suggested going on Talk Mobile at about £5 per month for about 3gb of data and unlimited calls and texts. This is a cheaper deal with less data than any I could find on the Talk Mobile website.
This sounds good to me and I didn't think a Vodafone shop would even acknowledge the existence of Talk Mobile - they said they could handle the transfer for her without any hassle at all
I mention this here in case this is of help to anyone else who wants to have a pay as you go arrangement with Vodafone's network but pay a lot less.

Well Talkmobile is owned by Vodafone but you're right, I've never heard of them cross-selling this way.
Maybe your friend was just lucky to run into one of the good guys, I'm told they do exist, and they figured they'd gouged enough cash to make even Vodafone feel a little remorseful.0 -
£5 pm still sounds quite a lot to me for a light user.
If she could get a good ee signal rwg do an equivalent deal for £3.50 pm;
https://www.rwgmobile.wales/webshop/pay-monthly/unlimited-mins-sms-2gb-data-£3-50-month/
Or you could get a lebara deal with an introductory discount if vodafone is the best signal locally;

Yes but she wants to stay on the Vodafone network and minimum hassle so this solution works best in both those respects0
