Universal credit, self employed and off injured

Just looking for advice or clarification on what I think is the case before going further.

I've had a major reoccurrance of a back condition that I recently (Oct) had surgery on. I understand that once I'm off for 7 days I need to provide UC with a fit note, I'm getting one today from the GP and I expect (based on a phone call with the surgeon) that I'll need at least a month before returning to my self employed job.

How will this affect my UC? IF at all. Also, my partner is having to do near everything for me, and the children at the moment, I assume she isn't entitled to anything unless I am officially on Pip or registered as disabled?

Lastly, she is wondering what the protocol is over the upcoming school summer holidays, she works considerably less over those 6 weeks (she's also self employed), which was never a problem under TC given the annual nature of it. However, she's concerned how UC will approach this.

Are you subject to the Minimum Income Floor or still in the start up phase?

Is this long term or short term? If long term then you should report your health condition by reporting a change of circumstances and then click health condition. You will then have 7 days to provide a fit note.

If you start working again soon and your earnings are more than 16 x NMW/ week then you won’t be able to be referred for a work capability assessment because you’re not claiming a disability benefit.

I don't think I'm on start up, but I'm not 100%... I've been self employed for almost 4 years but we've only just been migrated over to UC from TC

I've been given a fit note for the period 17/6 until the 10/7... I don't know atm but it may need extending beyond that, depends on recovery response.

Is that classed as long term in this instance, should I upload the fit note to my journal anyway?

So if new to UC, you will be in start up period  therefore minimum income floor does not apply yet. Continue to report income and expenses.. UC will take into account net earnings during assessment periods.

Report fit notes on claim.  if you cannot work due for extended period over 28 days and may be ongoing, then you will be referred for Work Capability Assessment process.

If they do refer you after those 29 days then you must continue to provide fit notes until a decision is made on your work capability assessment. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/universal-credit-if-you-have-a-disability-or-health-condition-quick-guide/universal-credit-if-you-have-a-disability-or-health-condition

Thanks for the advice. I'm obviously hoping it's not going to go past 29 days but it's hard to say currently. I'll submit my fit note and do income/expenses as normal.

Do I just upload it onto the journal or under a specific section?

Report income & Expenses on to-do list on the last day of assessment period.

First fit note, report change of circumstances and complete health section. From second fit note use report a fit nota option on homepage. You don't upload, you report the details.
