Or sold privately for considerably more?0

No, it turns out that in the space of a couple of weeks since I last had the car valued by all the "we buy your car" websites, the valuation had gone up by a good few £k, while the dealer had offered me under what I thought it was worth in the first place. Classic case of getting carried away in the dealership before doing all the necessary checks.MattMattMattUK said:Out of interest why are you not able to hand over the old car? Has the car been written off in an accident?
The dealer just called me and it's not a problem at all to simply swap out the PX for the cash equivalent 😅1 -

The dealer just called me and it's not a problem at all to simply swap out the PX for the cash equivalent 😅In that case, the delaer may not be too happy with the offer of cash instead. They will have factored in the expected profit from the part-ex when deciding what deal to give you on the new car. It's possible for a dealer to give you a low offer on the part-ex, then sweeten it by giving a higher than normal discount on the car you're buying. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
