Shell energy (talktalk) are they any good and can I port my NowTV (Sky) landline number to them?

I could get a good deal through top cashback and an upgrade to fibre if I switch from NowTV to Shell but have been told that Shell energy have sometimes had difficulties in getting NowTV to release the existing landline number as if they think they ‘own’ it? Then you have to cancel the switch to retain your number!? Has anyone successfully ported their existing number or for that matter lost it when they wanted to retain it with these two companies?

I know Shell and their new owner talktalk can get bad reviews but tempted by a monthly cost of around £16 after voucher and cashback compared to £24 with NowTV who I’m currently with.

Any good or bad experiences with Shell please?

Indeed, and I've already had an increase to my contract one month after making a new contract with Shell and Talk Talk are saying an increase again.
I can't tell you how much because I can't sign in until tomorrow.
I said I would never touch TalkTalk again in 2013 because of their apauling customer service and I'm with them through no fault of mine.
No terms have been given so far.

Porting numbers between different networks ( Sky/ Now to Talk Talk ) should be possible and supposedly it is your ‘right’ to request it , but anecdotally it seems not to work a lot of the time especially when it’s two MPF LLU providers like the these two , and ultimately they can hide behind a clause that in effect says , ‘we’ll make best efforts but don’t guarantee it’ so it’s a bit of a leap of faith…
