Flight cancelled, had to travel home a day early.

Was due to travel on BA2671 from Majorca to London Gatwick yesterday Thursday 20th June arriving at 2.15pm, received an email from BA Tuesday 18th June at 7pm saying it was cancelled.

They had rebooked me to fly to London City Airport via Ibiza arriving at 8.10pm 20th June.

This was not suitable as my car was parked at Gatwick.

Managed to get booked on Wednesday 19th June flight but have missed out on the last night of my holiday.

The holiday was booked through British Airways and had ATOL protection.

Can I push BA for a partial refund or am I out of luck.

Not sure if this is covered by UK261 or if i have posted in the correct section.

Thanks for any help.

Rerouting to an airport in the same city is allowed under the CAA guidelines, so I think you'll struggle to argue the rerouting was unreasonable unless you have additional needs that BA were aware of. Assuming the reason was not exceptional circumstances, you are entitled to fixed rate compensation under UK261 however.

Did you make BA Holidays aware at the time the cancellation would lead to you missing a night of your holiday? Did you identify other flights on different airlines that could get you back in time?

They would have transferred you from City to Gatwick, or paid for a taxi/train etc. if you had flown into City.

It will depend on some specifics, did you book the flight on 19th or did they? Have they given you any additional information?

Looking on Flyertalk, lack of flight crew appears to be the reason.

I rebooked the flight myself on BA website.

As it was your choice to book a flight a day earlier then no recourse to claim back for your lost holiday night in Mallorca.

Thought that might be the case, annoying but not surprised.

    Thanks for everybodys help.
