Social housing responsibilities to private owners

Hello,

Please can anyone help!

If a housing association hasn't dealt with a tenant's complaints regarding a treatable "pest" and the situation over years has now escalated to meighbouring detached properties directly being affected and having to pay out to sort and also for preventable measures, is there any legislation i can quote?

The housing association has asked me to put in writing the situation and i want to ensure i have the best email sent. As at first they told me it wasn't up to them, then when i pushed they said to get an opinion and to write to them and they would get their maintenance.

I had said, legally i was sure they had a duty of care to look after their properties and in doing so not impact other properties. But i don't know if this is legislation?

Thanks in advance

Surely depends what the pest is, if tenants don't look after the property properly, then no matter what action the HA take then the pest will return

It's not the tenants fault, it's beyond their control (it's nature basically and bad luck).

I'm going to delete this, as i have the answer from of all places the housing ombudsman, brilliant advice.

The freeholder, being the social housing do have the duty of care as normal freeholder like "me" and are liable to sort.

Not sure how i delete this thread.

You can't delete a thread once started. Only admin/mods can do that.
It is also considered bad form to go back and edit out your initial post. Doing so will put off people from responding to future queries that you may have.

leaving the opening post up along with the responses will help others in the future should they be experience a similar issue.

Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

You can ask the mods to delete it - giving a decent explanation - or you can simply delete your own posts, but that would obviously leave a very weird thread.
If you post a link to the Housing Ombudsman, then it would make this a useful reference thread for others.
    Pleased it's (hopefully) sorted

The answer is as above : The freeholder, being the social housing do have the duty of care as normal freeholder like "me" and are liable to sort.

I thought that if a post is obsolete with limited comments, then they get deleted for space. I have seen people write "delete".

I presumed that is what you do. I am not a frequent visitor.

I don't know what you are insinuating. See above.
